First Clinical Case Report of a Xenograft–Allograft Combination for Alveolar Ridge Augmentation Using a Bovine Bone Substitute Material with Hyaluronate (Cerabone® Plus) Combined with Allogeneic Bone Granules (Maxgraft®)

About this article:
In a recent peer-reviewed case report, Kloss et al. described a successful alveolar ridge augmentation in which cerabone® plus (cerabone® prefunctionalized with hyaluronate) was combined with maxgraft® allogeneic granules. The patient (34-year-old woman) presented with a horizontal defect at tooth 21 with a remaining ridge width of only 2–3 mm (class II). The treatment consisted of a two-phase GBR: the xenograft–allograft mix was placed in the defect, covered with a slowly resorbing collagen membrane (Jason®), and six months later a titanium implant was placed.
